Elena will suffer deep consequences

SPOILER ALERT

Now that Elena Gilbert has commit her first murder as a vampire, she will want more? Or she will continue detesting that new predator in which she has converted?

"The consequences of this first death are really heavy", says the executive producter Julie Plec to the journalists in a episode's projection. "She's... literal and metaphorally has muerded her hope without realizing it, she'll learn that for killing a hunter, there is to pay a price... that will take her to very very dark places".

So, Connor's death indicates the ending for a possible cure for Elena? What does exactly mean the mark in Jeremy's hand? And how does the professor Shane fit in all this new mithology and the future of the hereos of Mystic Falls? Plec and the writer Michael Narducci answer these wuaestions and a lot more!

When did you know that Connor would be the first victim of Elena?

Michael Narducci: We talked in April... and we knew what was going to happen in the episode 5 and that would be Connor. I already have been a while in the series, and that Elena does more things is something for what i fight, I don't want her to be a damsel in diestress. I want her to get our and protect her brother. We think, if Jeremy is in danger and we have Matt which is her high school boyfriend in danger, what she would do? I really enjoyed when she turns to Damon and says to him: "I'm also a monster", and she is, she's dangerous. I don't think that she entered the tunels with the intention of killing Connor, i think she entered those tunels with the intention of saying: "Keep away of my family!" But Connor is ready to kill a vampire at any time and when he nails her the stake, she looses her mind. The vampires exploit and Elena is one of them so we need to show also this dark side of what it means being a vampire".

What are the consequences of the murder?

Julie Plec: Well, just giving the first inkling of hope to Elena's situation [namely, the cure] herself was the one that literal and metaphoricly killed her hope without realizing it. So the consequences of that first death are really heavy. She will also learn for the first time that killing a hunter has a price and that is astrange consequence for alll this to the Dostoievski way, that will take her to very very dark places.

What does it mean this possible cure?

Plec: It will do that our characters will make questions of theirselfs, what is what they want and what is what they are ready to do to get it.... And who will do all this possible for making it sure that at the end it doesn't fall in wrong hands?
We talk about Jeremy's "destiny" , like a hunter.

Plec: Right now it's just the beginning of his awakening. Connor said to him that he was a hunter in power and that is an indication that maybe Connor was telling the truth. That mark and what it mens and where does it conduct and wha Jeremy will have to do to complete it, is a story that started and that will end.

What does it happen with the professor Shane?

Plec: The Professor Shane starts to cross with the road of our guys the next week with some answers, but if they are to trust or not we are not sure yet. Talking about Bonnie, he's a mentor that has appeared in her life just when she is in a place very dark where she feels that she has lost her magic. And that's where appears this professor very wise that says her: "Hey, let me teach you how to put you into contact with who you really are", for what there is fascination there. But how we've seen, he has an alternative plans hidden. Only that we don't know if it's the better for her or not.

What's April's purpose?

Plec: April for us is a funny human and a recordatory that this town exists and that there are people in this town that don't know anything and that could end placed in all this story by the same way that happened to Elena and her friend in the first season. So it's a breath of fresh air. April is also our tool to investigate the wat so inesperated that the first chapter ended. That mistery isn't resolved yet, and she will be important at the hour of joining the pieces.

Narducci: April is a species of example for seing all what Elena has lived since she was human. You look at April and you see how was more or less Elena at the first season, and Elena isn't at that point anymore, so it's a bit shocking doing this comparation.

What is Tyler's mission in the future?

Narducci: Tyler is someone that overcomed Klaus's vincle and that now is free and he looks at his around all this other hybrids that Klaus is using for doing what he wants and like a hereo that he is says: "This is bad, and i have to do something". Hayley is the person that helps him to act on this heroic wish.

Plec: Tyler has in mind a revelation.

The diaries returned! Why bringing them back now?

Plec: That's the series's title, so we always knew that we wanted to have them in mind. What we've said since the first seasons is that a diary is the place more personal for showing your messages more personals. When you're in a functional friendship - a functional relationship - and you feel that you have something to share, you share it with a friend, with a love, with somebody. Elena have always had that with Stefan and Damon, but now she feels more alone and lost than ever. We thought that was the right moment so that she had her own voice inasmuch as she can't tell this to her friend and her loved ones, that she hates in what she has converted. So we thought that this was the rigth moment. It isn't being on the weekly format. We are going to use the diaries in the moments in which we think that they have a private thought in which we have to be invited.

OK, when Katherine and Elijah came back, an this is the last time we'll se Connor?

Plec: We havn't seen the last of Katherine and believe it or not, it isn't the last time we'll see Connor. We're talking about the episode 16 and 17 that the name of Elijah appears everywhere. The scripts aren't written yet but that's our idea, bring him back as we get closer to the last chapter of the year. I think that they have caught out Nathaniel Buzolic (Kol) twitting from Atlanta but i wouldn't call that a "reunion".
